A Different Quality of Light
it's a different quality of light
that falls on you now
these late-in-the-day rays
catching every detail
illuminating you
in gentler tones
and catching specks of dust
hanging in the air
long rays of a setting sun
sliding between storm clouds
like Jacob's ladder
every colour
is gentler in its vivid glow
some how both softer
and sharper at once
today, as the light is fading into dusk
you are lit, more perfectly
than I have ever seen you
and although you don't know
that I am watching
I am memorizing every detail
of this moment
cars, windmills, and all.
